The avocado is a pear-shaped fruit indigenous to South America. It is served raw, either cut in half and sliced or mashed, or cooked in a casserole.

Table manners for eating a halved avocado. When cut in half, the buttery flesh is scooped from the shell with a spoon.

Table manners for eating a mashed avocado. If served mashed as a dip, such as guacamole, avocado is taken with a chip.
